Students and staff join forces for Open Library concept at Nilai University.
Students and staff volunteered to create Nilai University’s very Open library. Located in the campus’s Student Activity Room, the mini-collection feature books, magazines and periodicals donated by the university community. The aim of this community project is to instil a love of reading among students as well as to inculcate a sense of discipline and responsibility among them. This is because the general upkeep of the library is down to the student volunteers and those who utilise it and there are no rules and regulations governing the borrowing and return of books. The success of this project will very much depend on the students’ conduct and their adherence to unspoken rules. Given the students enthusiastic response so far, it looks like the Open Library is set to be a permanent fixture on Nilai U’s landscape.
