Nilai U Announces New Financial Aid Schemes

EDUCATION FOR ALL SCHEMES

“Nilai University (Nilai U) has always believed that deserving students should be given the opportunity to fulfil their potential through higher education,” says Datuk Dr. Megat Burhainuddin B. Megat Abdul Rahman (Nilai U President and Vice Chancellor). “Aside from various scholarship schemes which reward students with good grades and active extra-curricular résumés, there are now two new financial aid schemes to benefit lower income households.”

There are two tiers to these new ‘Education for All’ schemes. Under the first tier, households with a combined monthly income of less than RM2,000 will be entitled to a tuition fee discount and 100% accommodation subsidy. “We understand for many it is the living expenses which make higher education costly. Thus we will provide off-campus accommodation for no charge to students who qualify for this scheme. This should help greatly reduce the burden,” says Datuk Dr. Megat Burhainuddin.

Next tier applies to households with a combined income of less than RM4,000 per month. In this scenario, students will be entitled to a discount in tuition fees and also a 50% waiver on the cost of off-campus accommodation. Both these offers are only available for the upcoming May intake with limited spaces available for these schemes. “We are offering this for a limited time to a certain number of applicants. Thus I wholly encourage those who qualify to apply as soon as possible. There are substantial savings to be made,” stresses Datuk Dr. Megat Burhainuddin.

There is also an early bird discount for students who apply for the Foundation programmes before the deadline of 15 April 2013. This amounts to RM600 to be deducted from the tuition fees. A similar discount is also available for applicants of the degree and diploma programmes. Applications must be submitted before 5 May 2013. “We have always striven to make higher education affordable with competitive pricing. These financial aid schemes highlight our commitment,” says Datuk Dr. Megat Burhainuddin.
