The Nilai University Convocation 2023 concluded smoothly on Saturday, August 26th, 2023. The event took place at Nilai University President Hall, celebrating the achievements of postgraduates, undergraduates, and foundation-level students. This prestigious convocation was chaired by Chancellor Professor Emeritus Tengku Dato’ Shamsul Bahrin and Vice- Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr. Azhar Ismail. “The world today is full of uncertainty and volatility. As you explore new and challenging territories, you must be sure that these are the challenges that will build your resilience and courage indefinitely,” said the Chancellor of Nilai University, Professor Emeritus Tengku Dato’ Shamsul Bahrin.
He underlined that it is fundamental for the students to have the mindset not just to survive but to thrive in the real-world industry. It is the survival of the fittest, where theory is put to the test, and graduates will stretch their potential and strategize their next move. The end goal is always to achieve maximum academic and personal growth, ultimately becoming active contributing members of a thriving social construct.
“The academics here are well-versed in the real-world corporate field; hence, they have guided us through the ropes before we embarked on our own journey,” mentioned by Fatin Syazwina Noor Farish Sham, a graduate of Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Finance and valedictorian of the class of 2023. Committed to education beyond book learning, the rest of the graduates claimed that they acquired the most life-altering skills and qualities through projects and programs where they were entrusted with the pertinent duties of planning, strategizing, and managing clubs and societies.
The constraints of online classes and lockdowns definitely hit hard on students of the School of Aircraft Maintenance. “As an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering student, the extra classes arranged by the school definitely helped strengthen my competence in this field,” said Lim Xian Yang, a graduate of Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
Besides the Chancellors, the convocation was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Kandasamy Gunasekara Pandaram (Asia Digital Engineering (ADE)), Dato' Amiruddin Bin Mazlan (INTI College), Datin Tunku Mariati Binti Tunku Mukhtar (INTI College), Inspector Mohd Nor Nikman Bin Ahammed, Chief of Police of Nilai Police Station, Mr. Baharin Ayob Ghazally and Mr. Rammaini Bin Ramli from Nilai Fire and Rescue Station, Sergeant Munizahasnita Binti Muin and Corporal Jefri bin Jaafar from Nilai Police Station, along with other distinguished guests.
