Dawn of the Greenage launched to raise environmental awareness on campus.
Nilai University's Life Science Society launched its second annual Dawn of the Greenage event today featuring three days of exhibitions, games, seminars, and recycling initiatives. First day launch has academics and students checking out the newly seeded Herbal Garden situated on campus as well as taking part in an Amazing Race-style competition which tested students' knowledge on biotechnology, conservation and the environment.
According to Shuba Salvam, lecturer in Nilai University (Nilai U) School of Engineering, Science and Technology and Life Science Society advisor, the Dawn of the Greenage is an attempt to raise awareness among all students on the importance of nature on all living things. It also aims to increase students' knowledge on the field of biotechnology and its applications. "We have also instructed all vendors on campus to do away with plastic bags and polystyrene containers for entire week. Of course, such fun and educational activities do help strengthen the bond among students and staff on campus," she explains.
All students and staff are encouraged to their bit to help reduce Nilai U's carbon footprint, during the dawn of the Greenage and beyond. Students will be collecting recyclable materials from all departments and also be having fund raising events
