It was an unforgettable and exhilarating moment for the May semester's Intensive English Program (IEP) students where they engaged in the IEP third telematch organized by the Department of Languages.
All six IEP classes (Basic A, Elementary A, Elementary B, Intermediate A, Intermediate B, and Intermediate C) formed five teams and labeled themselves with creative names to spark off their sporting spirits. The teams, comprised of the Black Bears, Shreks, Tigers, RED, and White Devils, competed against each other in the four games namely The Sack Race, Shoot-the-Marble, The Cocoloco Game, and the highlight of the day, Tug of War. All participants sweated to win for their team.
The Black Bears (Basic A and Intermediate A) succeeded the overall victory of this year's telematch while RED (Intermediate B) came first runner up. The Tigers of Elementary B was the second runner up. Meanwhile, for the much awaited Tug of War, RED toppled The Black Bears in two pulls.
Prizes to winners and participants were presented by the Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SHSS), Ms Shariffah Bahyah bte Syed Ahmad. Adding more excitement to the event, winners of the Tug of War were presented with fast-food meal vouchers, courtesy from the Dean. All department lecturers were present to cheer the students up and be part of the fun.
This IEP Telematch is an annual event held for all IEP students by the department to give students the opportunity to interact with students and in doing so, develop their social skills. An event like this will also improve camaraderie amongst IEP students as well as develop their language skills in situ and confidence.
