MOA signing Nilai University with Gleneagles Hospital Medini Johor

 

26th July 2022 – Nilai, Nilai University (N.U) and Gleneagles Hospital Medini Johor signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on collaboration to share the goal of developing trained nurses, providing them a subsequent platform as well as exchange in knowledge between the two organization. The signing ceremony took place at Flamme, a fully run restaurant by the students of School of Hospitality and Tourism as part as their curricular subjects here at Nilai University.

This collaboration is part of the initiative; “Giving back to the community” as this offers scholarship to those who strive academically and provide them with first class nursing training here in Nilai University with the security of job placement at Gleneagles Hospital Medini in Johor upon completion of their studies.

In addition, this collaboration also shows both Nilai University and Gleneagles Hospital Medini responded to the shortage of nurses as it was stated by the Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin. “The shortage of nurses either for government or private hospitals and clinics is increasing from time to time and this needs to be addressed immediately to prevent a bigger crisis later on especially during the era of Covid-19” said Khairy Jamaluddin.

Professor Dato Dr. Azhar Ismail, Vice-Chancellor at Nilai University, said: “We are delighted to be working with Gleneagles Hospital Medini Johor, a hospital that embraces diversity, respect for the individual and the expression of talent. Students are at the heart of all that we do and by joining forces with Gleneagles Hospital, our support and training for both the university and hospitals future nurses’ will help shape the next generation of the nurses and provide the highest quality of service”.

This collaboration benefits aspiring nursing students in the way of fee’s support. By going through this collaboration, both Nilai university and Gleneagles Hospital Medini Johor will take up the tuition fees for the qualified students. Apart from the tuition fees, the accommodation at Nilai University on-campus Hall of Residence will be covered 100% for the Standard Program Duration. This programme is ideal for those who are interested in doing nursing but having limited sources in funding.
