Second Edition of ‘I Am A Winner’ Award rewards students showcasing positive attitude.
“I am overwhelmed by this unexpected award. I was nominated by a lecturer who stated that I am consistently displaying exemplary attitude throughout the semester,” says the all-smiles Nur ‘Atiqah Abdullah, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business and Hospitality Management student. That day she proudly stood with the other nine Nilai University (Nilai U) students who received ‘I Am A Winner’ Award presented to celebrate those who display positive attitude in campus. "I don't expect to be rewarded for doing something good but this is a simple yet very supprotive acknowledgement for people to keep doing it."

As part of the committee members, it feels more rewarding when rewarding others. “Last year was the very first time we managed to organise this event. So this semester we decided to come back with the second ‘I Am A Winner’ Award with the same aim and spirit. We would like to take an extra though little step to encourage a positive campus culture by making an effort to acknowledge good deeds no matter how small the action is,” enthuses Nelson David Bessay who is the current President of Nilai U’s Leaders of Tomorrow Society. “It is hoped that the ethos would go viral.”

As the president of a society, David acknowledges the importance of being heavily involved in activities other than going to class and finishing assignments. “University life is more than just studying. Over 50 clubs and societies in Nilai U with their creative activities will keep your varsity experience colourful!” added the 22-year-old from Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Meanwhile, the proud yet humble winners were honoured with a certificate as an appreciation of their deeds. Besides equipping its students with the state-of-the-art facilities for certified higher education, Nilai University makes it an aim to produce employable all-rounded graduates who are professionally competent, and socially confident.
