Nilai UC lends a helping hand to Boys Brigade

Nilai UC extends financial assistance and scholarship scheme to boys' brigade.

Nilai University College (Nilai UC) recently signed an agreement with Stedfast Association Kuala Lumpur to aid members of the Boys' Brigade pursue higher education. This is in line with Nilai UC's aim of making higher education more accessible and affordable to deserving students.

Under the agreement, Nilai UC will provide a High Achiever Scholarship asward which offers 100% tuition fee and accommodation waiver. In addition to that, Nilai UC will be offering 50 Enrichment for Life Awards which offer a 30% tuition fee waiver for the Foundation programme or 10-25% tuition fee waiver for degree programmes.

"I approached Nilai UC's Deputy CEO, Gan Eng Hong, with the idea of reserving a certain number of scholarship and financial assistance schemes specifically for the members of Boys Brigade and Stedfast. He was very enthusiastic with the idea as he is familiar with the organisations and thought it prudent that such initiatives had the support of private higher education institutions. Leading by example, he signed the agreement," smile Michael Yei, President of Stedfast Kuala Lumpur and also Director of Nilai UC's Department of Student Affairs and Sports.

Stedfast Association is alumni of former Boys Brigade members (and current officers) who wished to continue doing community service as well as provide leadership for the Boys Brigade. The latter is the oldest uniform society in the world and is the precursor to the Boy Scouts. Stedfast has been raising funds for scholarships for the Boys brigade and their own members for a decade and this latest agreement is a major boost.
